This term we are experimenting with offering 1-on-1 appointments for students who want feedback on an oral presentation (for a class presentation, a job talk, a thesis defense, etc.). The appointment will start with you delivering up to 8-10 minutes of your presentation (no more!!), which will be followed by individual feedback from the instructor on issues such as your body language, presentation structure, slide design, clarity of content, etc.. Appointments are 30 minutes long and begin at the scheduled time. You must bring your presentation with you on a memory stick or send it the day before your appointment to our Administrative Assistant, Lauren, at email@example.com.
While most presentations are longer than 8-10 minutes, the goal of these appointments is not to give you a chance to deliver an entire presentation (you can practice that at home!) but to give you individual feedback on your presentational content, structure, and delivery. To ensure there is time for such feedback, the instructor will stop you promptly at the 8-10 minute mark.
This is the first time GCAC has offered such appointments, and we will determine whether to continue doing so based on demand and student feedback.
