Collaborative Program Administration and Reviews

Graduate Collaborative Programs

Collaborative Program Guidelines (PDF) (revised September 2015)

The University of Toronto offers approximately 40 graduate collaborative programs. Collaborative programs emerge from cooperation between two or more graduate units and their graduate programs. The collective experience of the participating graduate programs provides the student with a broader base from which to explore a novel interdisciplinary area or some special development in a particular discipline.

Collaborative programs are aligned with a "lead" Faculty and Dean. They are administered and operated by a program director and committee. The program director is appointed by the lead Faculty Dean and should be aware of the General Guidelines. In the case of a new collaborative program proposal, the first point of contact will be the Faculty Dean's Office. See also: Governance Procedures.

For students seeking admission to a collaborative program where the home degree program does not currently participate, please contact the graduate program administrator to access and complete a Non-Standard Collaborative Program Enrolment Form (PDF).

Quality Assurance Review for Collaborative Programs

The University of Toronto Quality Assurance Process (UTQAP) sets out overarching procedures for cyclical program reviews. Collaborative Program Reviews are administered through the Office of the Vice-Provost, Academic Programs.

Collaborative program directors will be required to participate in a cyclical review according to an established schedule. Each program's Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) is renewed at the time of review.
