Bologna Note:
The Czech Republic joined Bologna process in 1999.
Since 2001 most universities (i.e. Masaryk University) started to offer three cycle degree system:
First cycle (Bakalar) – 3-4 years
Second cycle (Magistr) – 1-3 years
Third cycle (Doktor) – 3-4 yearsSince 2006 the diploma supplement has been issued together with a diploma.
Most public higher education institutions are currently using ECTS or an ECTS compatible credit system. Private institutions have been slower in adopting ECTS.
Old degrees (2-3 year Magistr) are no longer offered.
