Grading System

A- Equivalent: 35/40; 27/30; 18/20

Most common grading scale is 0-40 (with 24 as the minimum passing grade), but other scales may be used, such as 0-30 (with 18 as the minimum passing grade), and 0-20 (with 12 as the minimum passing grade). The minimum passing percentage is the same (60%) on all three scales and the descriptive words remain the same as follows.

24-29 REGULAR/AVERAGE

Notes for Ecuador

The Maestría/Magister is awarded after two years` further study beyond completion of the Licenciatura. In Health and Medicine, one to three years’ further study is required in a postgraduate Especialista program.

Bachiller(ato) is not equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. It`s equivalent to a High School Diploma.
Titulo de Maestro(a) is equivalent to an Upper Secondary education.
Diplomado Superior is equivalent to a Postgraduate Certificate.
Titulo de Especialista/Titulo de Especialista Superior is equivalent to a Postgraduate Diploma.
