Improving Listening Comprehension Skills in English – Synchronous Online Workshop

  • This event has passed.

October 4, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

This synchronous workshop will be taught by Dr. Adeiza Isiaka.

Conversations are more challenging to follow than formally structured speeches because they are often loosely structured, fragmented, and full of informal expressions. In this workshop, we will start by characterizing the major strategies that can help to improve your listening comprehension in English conversations and discuss practical ways of getting used to fast speech. We will also discuss how to hone your comprehension skills through passive and active listening, and how to glide over fillers and mannerisms during listening in order to focus on a speaker’s content more fully.

This is the third of 8 workshops in the Academic Writing and Speaking in English workshop series.

This workshop will be offered live online and will not be recorded.
