Improving Listening Comprehension Skills in English – Synchronous Online Workshop
- This event has passed.
June 3 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm EDT
This synchronous online workshop is taught by Dr. Adeiza Isiaka
Conversations are more challenging to follow than formally structured speeches because they are often loosely structured, fragmented, and full of informal expressions. In this workshop, we will start by characterizing the major strategies that can help to improve your listening comprehension in English conversations and discuss practical ways of getting used to fast speech. We will also discuss how to hone your comprehension skills through passive and active listening, and how to glide over fillers and mannerisms in order to focus on a speaker’s content more fully.
This is the first of 3 workshops in the Academic Writing/Listening for Multilingual Students workshop series.
This workshop will be offered live online and will not be recorded. Please register by clicking the “REGISTER” link below to receive the confirmation e-mail with the workshop details. If you are unable to register online, or if you are not a currently registered U of T graduate student, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to be registered manually.
