Strategies for Clarifying Your English Pronunciation – Synchronous Online Workshop

  • This event has passed.

October 11, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm EDT

This synchronous workshop will be taught by Dr. Adeiza Isiaka.

This workshop is designed for non-native English speakers who want to improve their pronunciation skills and become more confident in speaking intelligibly. Unlike in many languages, English words are often not pronounced as spelled, and words with multiple syllables can be challenging for learners to realize. The good news, however, is that English pronunciation is mostly governed by learnable rules. In this workshop, we will walk through the patterns of word and sentence stress as well as sounds in connected speech. We will also explore some strategies for pronouncing most new words you come across.

This is the fourth of 8 workshops in the Academic Writing and Speaking in English workshop series.

This workshop will be offered live online and will not be recorded. Please click ‘REGISTER’ just below, sign in to our registration portal, and click “Register for this Event” to receive the workshop meeting link by email.
