Using Small Talk for Networking – Online Synchronous Workshop
September 13 @ 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm EDT
This workshop is taught by Clare Nippard.
Whether we are meeting new colleagues, interacting with peers, attending conferences, or even interviewing for a job, our ability to engage in small talk can help us to establish and build professional connections. However, using small talk effectively can be challenging: sometimes we may be unsure how to initiate a conversation, what to talk about, or how much to say. This workshop will focus on practical strategies to build confidence and skill in small talk for networking
This is the first of 4 workshops in the Preparing for Academic Writing and Speaking in English workshop series.
This workshop will be offered live online and will not be recorded. Please register to receive a link to join the workshop at the scheduled time. If you are not able to register online or if you are not a currently registered U of T graduate student, please contact Sarah at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will register you manually.
