Quoting and Paraphrasing: Working with Sources in the Social Sciences and Humanities – Prerecorded Workshop
April 30 @ 11:30 pm EDT
Available on demand until April 30, 2023
This prerecorded workshop is taught by Dr. Peter Grav
In this 30-minute online workshop for students in the humanities and social sciences, we’ll take a look at how we introduce other people’s research into our writing through quotation and paraphrase. We’ll consider the various levels of citation (from short quotations to large generalizations), the pros and cons of quoting vs. paraphrasing, the reasons we might choose certain structures over others when we integrate the work of others into our writing, as well as strategies to help you craft better paraphrases.
