Here are just some of the Orientation activities for grad students offered in Fall 2019.

Gradlife Campus Tours Fall 2019

If you’re an incoming grad student, or want to learn more about where grad-specific spaces and offices are located on the St. George campus, come to one of our Gradlife campus tours.

Tours will run for one hour and start in the first-floor lounge of the School of Graduate Studies, 63 St. George St. Drop-in, no registration required. Light refreshments provided at the start of the tour.

Tour Dates:

  • Monday, August 19. Starting at 12 pm, 3 pm, 5:30 pm
  • Wednesday, August 21. Starting at 12 pm, 3 pm, 5:30 pm
  • Friday, August 23. Starting 12 pm, 3 pm, 5:30 pm

Transitioning to Grad Life: Strategies for Personal Development, Academic Success and Making Connections in a Research Program

Incoming graduate students (Research Stream): Join this session to help you make the transition to grad life. Learn effective strategies for academic success and personal wellness, talking to people and and navigating your supervisor relationship and hear tips from current students in research programs. Lunch included.

12:15-1:00 pm:Talking to New People (Mentorship and Peer Programs)

1-1:30 pm: Refreshments/break

1:30-2:15 pm: Strategies for Academic Success in a Research Program (Academic Success)

2:15-2:45 pm: Starting off Right with your Supervisor (G2G Peer Advisors, Graduate Conflict Resolution Centre)

3-3:45 pm: Student Panel: You Belong in Grad School (G2G Peer Advisors, Graduate Conflict Resolution Centre)

3:45-4 pm: Reflection closing (Gradlife)

Incoming graduate students (Professional stream): Join this session to help you make the transition to grad life. Learn effective strategies for academic success and personal wellness, learn how to make conversations with other students and hear how to manage your workload and juggle life as a grad student from current students in professional programs. Light dinner included.

6:30-7:15 pm: Strategies for Academic Success in a Professional Program (Academic Success)

7:15-7:45 pm: Strategies for setting boundaries & seizing opportunities in grad school (G2G Peer Advisors, Graduate Conflict Resolution Centre)

8-8:45 pm: Student Panel: Juggling Many Responsibilities as a Grad Student in a Professional Program (G2G Peer Advisors, Graduate Conflict Resolution Centre)
