Academic Integrity at U of T

The University of Toronto is committed to the free and open exchange of ideas, and to the values of independent inquiry.  Academic integrity is fundamental to our university community’s intellectual life. What does it mean to act with academic integrity? U of T supports the International Center for Academic Integrity’s definition of academic integrity as acting in all academic matters with honesty, trust, fairness, respect, responsibility, and courage.

Academic Integrity in Graduate Studies

The University’s policy on academic misconduct is found in the Code of Behaviour on Academic Matters (the Code). Other policies deal with the general conduct of students (the Code of Student Conduct) and with research ethics. For information regarding allegations of research misconduct, please visit the website of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation.

Smart Strategies

Smart Strategies are designed to provide students and instructors with information, tips, and resources to help them promote and maintain academic integrity at the University of Toronto. The suggestions intentionally combines information intended for students and instructors (rather than offering separate sites) to signal that this important issue requires the attention and effort of all members of the academic community.
