Financial Economics

The Master of Financial Economics program is a small enrolment joint program of the Department of Economics and the Rotman School of Management. Graduates of the program receive a professional degree called the Master of Financial Economics (MFE). The 16-month program is designed to equip talented students with the tools and skills required for successful careers in the financial sector. It provides students with a broad understanding of financial theory and the economic framework upon which that theory is based, both in the classroom and through actual experience working for firms in the financial sector.

Base Funding Amount -

Graduate units determine a base funding amount for doctoral research stream programs and the number of years that the student will be eligible. In addition to the Base Funding, all eligible students will receive the cost of academic tuition and fees. More information about Base Funding can be found at .​

Actual Income -

Students often have the opportunity to earn additional income through research stipends, internal and external fellowships, RA employment income and TA-ships. Therefore, the average actual income of students in a program is typically higher than the Base Funding amount in that program. More information about Actual Incomes can be found at .
