Emily Majaesic (L) with SGS Dean Joshua Barker at Queen’s University

Emily Majaesic has a new win to celebrate: the third-year Chemistry PhD student and winner of U of T’s 2023 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition has won first place at the Ontario Regional Final at Queen’s University.

Majaesic was one of 12 competitors at the event held on May 17, which brought together the winners from 3MT competitions at universities across the province. In November, Majaesic will represent Ontario at the 3MT National Showcase at the Canadian Association of Graduate Schools (CAGS) conference to be held in Victoria, BC.

Hosted annually by SGS’ Centre for Graduate Professional Development, the 3MT competition challenges graduate students to explain their research to a general audience in just 3 minutes. Over 900 universities across the globe run the event every year. Students from all disciplines are eligible to participate.

Congratulations, Emily! SGS is delighted to see you represent U of T at the regional and national level.
