Purpose

With an aim to foster the health and wellness of graduate students, the SGS Summer Gym Bursary offers students a reimbursement for up to 100% of their campus summer athletic membership or program fees.

The SGS Summer Gym Bursary is open to registered professional and research stream graduate students who purchase memberships at a participating St. George Campus facility. These include Hart House Fitness Centre and Sport & Recreation athletic facilities (which include the Athletic Centre, Goldring Centre, Varsity Centre, and Back Campus Fields).

With the SGS Summer Gym Bursary, students will receive a maximum reimbursement of $145.00 (plus HST) to apply towards the cost of their purchase to access either in-person or on-line programs through a campus athletic facility.

UTM and UTSC Student Bursaries :

Graduate students registered or affiliated with UTM or UTSC are eligible for bursaries and rebates to support the purchase of on-campus summer gym memberships:

UTSC Graduate Student Gym Rebate supports UTSC students with the cost of purchasing a summer gym membership at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre Athletic Centre (TPASC).

UTM Graduate Student Summer Gym Bursary supports UTM students with the cost of purchasing a summer gym membership at the Recreation, Athletics & Wellness Centre (RAWC). 

Eligibility

SGS Summer Gym Bursary applicants must:

Be a student registered with School of Graduate Studies in a master’s or doctoral program (professional or research-stream);
Registered full-time for the current summer session;
Have purchased a summer gym membership or program from one of two participating St. George Campus locations; and,
Have valid proof of purchase that displays name and/or student number.

Eligible students may apply for the SGS Summer Gym Bursary once per summer session.

Application Process

Registered students can access the online SGS Summer Gym Bursary Application beginning mid May through to August 2026.

Please note:

Students must be registered at the time of application;
One application is permitted per applicant
Membership or program fees must be incurred at one facility;
The application cannot be modified after submission; and,
Proof of payment must be uploaded as a PDF or JPG file.

Results

Results for the Summer Gym Bursary application will be provided on a monthly basis. All applicants will receive an email notification via their official U of T email address.
