Pre-university education requires 12 years of study. Secondary School Certificate and entrance examinations required for admission to university.

The system offers three cycle – Bachelor’s (undergraduate, 3-4 years in length), Master’s (graduate, 1-2 years in length) and Doctoral degrees (3 years.)
Diploma Supplements are not yet issued by institutions.
ECTS credit system is being used along with the local grading system as of 2007.
Old degrees (traditional long cycle Magister) are still offered in some fields but are now considered second cycle awards.
