“It's important to determine early on what your goals are.”

I think the most incredible thing I experienced during my time at the University of Toronto was that I got to learn from the experts [faculty members], and it was fabulous to witness first-hand their passion for their respective fields.

I am originally from India but I’ve spent most of my schooling years in Kuwait. I recently finished a Master of Education with a focus on developmental psychology and special education.

I did my undergrad at U of T Mississauga, and simply loved the experience. That made U of T an obvious choice for my graduate studies, especially since OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies in Education) is known for its research-based pedagogy.

I’m probably going to take a year off to teach internationally and broaden my skill set. I am also considering a doctorate as well, so perhaps I’ll be back at U of T next year.

For prospective students: I think given the job market, especially in education, it’s important to determine early on what your goals are. If you’re keen on exploring the subject or finding answers to some unanswered questions, it’s definitely recommended, and will surely prove to be a great experience. So take some time out to think about what you really want from your career, and then choose [a graduate program] accordingly.
