We understand that there are times when a supervisory relationship can be challenging or involve conflict. As with any relationship, the student-supervisor relationship may not always go smoothly. We hope that in most cases this is a temporary situation that can be resolved relatively easily and quickly. But sometimes it may not be so easy to resolve and it may be necessary to look at other solutions.
Who Can I Talk To?
Our goal is to help facilitate positive, supportive, and productive relationships in your academic life. There are many different people who can provide guidance and advice about your options. You can have a confidential conversation with a staff member at the Centre for Mentorship and Supervision about any concern you have or issue you are facing. CGMS can confidentially help you talk about your experience or concern, advise you on your options, and provide direction for next steps. You will also see a list of other points of contact who can help you, depending on what feels best for you.
You can contact the following offices to get advice or have a confidential conversation. If you are not sure what office is right for you, or where to start, we suggest you contact staff at CGMS or UTGSU to discuss your situation. They can help you determine the best path forward for you.
Indicates offices where conversations may, or may not, be confidential. You are able to request that conversations remain confidential.
