The Higher Education program is offered by the  Department of Leadership, Higher and Adult Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). Courses of study lead to the Master of Arts, Master of Education, Doctor of Education, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees. 

Three fields are offered:

  1. Higher Education (MA, MEd, EdD, PhD)

  2. Health Professional Education (MEd)

  3. Student Development and Student Services in Postsecondary Education (MEd)

Applications must be made to one of these fields according to the degree level of interest.

​​​​​​​Research Stream Program Funding Information​

Base Funding Amount -

Graduate units determine a base funding amount for doctoral research stream programs and the number of years that the student will be eligible. In addition to the Base Funding, all eligible students will receive the cost of academic tuition and fees. More information about Base Funding can be found at .​

Actual Income -

Students often have the opportunity to earn additional income through research stipends, internal and external fellowships, RA employment income and TA-ships. Therefore, the average actual income of students in a program is typically higher than the Base Funding amount in that program. More information about Actual Incomes can be found at .
