Craft of Revision – Synchronous Online Workshop

  • This event has passed.

November 9, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm EST

This synchronous workshop will be taught by Dr. Rachael Cayley.

Academic writing relies heavily on revision. Most of us are simply unable to create reader-friendly texts that offer highly sophisticated explanations of complex topics without subjecting our writing to extensive revision. Despite the centrality of revision to an effective academic writing practice, many graduate writers are uncertain how to manage the craft of revision. This workshop will begin by exploring the benefits of revision, before going on to classify different types of revision: revising structure, revising sentences, and revising linkages. We will end by discussing how these different types of revision can be combined into a systematic revision process.

This is the sixth of 7 workshops in the Getting Through Graduate Work (Wednesdays) workshop series.

This workshop will be offered live online and will not be recorded.
