Managing Strength of Claim in Academic Writing – Synchronous Online Workshop

  • This event has passed.

November 8, 2022 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm EST

This synchronous workshop will be taught by Dr. Adeiza Isiaka.

Academic writing involves indicating how confident we are about our findings and how our study interacts with the literature. As a grad student, it is not enough to state your results and draw conclusions in your writing, you also need to show what you think of them and define the perspective from which your results can be understood. In this workshop, we will explore the linguistic strategies for increasing or decreasing the strength of knowledge claims and discuss ways of phrasing your findings in relation to a broader conversation in your field.

This is the eighth of 8 workshops in the Academic Writing and Speaking in English workshop series.

This workshop will be offered live online and will not be recorded.
