Registration Instructions & Attendance Policies
Note: All courses in the February 2021 session will be offered online
The next session of online courses will be offered in February/March 2021.
Registration will open Tuesday February 2 at 10:00 am EST
Students may register in a maximum of two GCAC courses in the February/March 2021 session
Please review the current term’s schedule.
Click on the TITLE of the course to read the course description.
After reading the course description, you can register for the section of the course you are interested in by clicking the blue REGISTER button. The REGISTER buttons will appear only when registration is open.
You will then be prompted to log in to the registration system using your UTORid and password.
Please note: If you do not have a UTORid or password please consult the Information Commons helpdesk. If you have not yet activated your UTORid or have forgotten your password, please refer to UTORid Account Management. If you are not a registered U of T graduate student, you are not eligible to take our courses.
To register, click the blue “Register for this event” button on the right. If the blue button does not appear, either online registration is no longer possible or you are not eligible to take this course.
If the course you are interested in is full, you may place yourself on the waiting list by clicking the blue “Register on Waiting List” button on the right. If you are on the waiting list, you are not eligible to attend. If a spot becomes available, you will receive an email.
Once you have registered, you should receive a confirmation email which will include your registration details and course location. That email is sent to the address that is listed in your official U of T profile. If you do not receive an email, contact us at email@example.com with your information.
Repeat steps 1 to 5 to register for a second course. Please do not register/add yourself to the waiting list for two sections of the same course as this can prevent others from joining the waitlist.
Dropping a Course/Removal from Waiting List
If you wish to drop a course or remove yourself from a waiting list before the first class of the course, please log in to the registration system. Click ‘Dashboard’ on the left menu. Select the ‘Event Registration’ tab. From this window you can view all your registrations. View the courses you wish to drop and click the blue “Cancel Registration” or “Remove me from the Waiting List” buttons. These blue buttons will not appear after the start of the first class. If you wish to drop a course after the first class date, please notify your instructor within 48 hours to allow someone from the waiting list to be admitted.
As our courses are in heavy demand, we ask that you register for a course only if you are sure you can complete it. We have implemented the following attendance policies out of respect for the many students who wish to take our courses but can’t get in.
1. Attendance is mandatory.
2. Students who register and miss classes (including students who register for a course but never attend) will be blocked from registering in the first session of the next term
3. In order to avoid penalty, students must notify their instructor with a valid reason for an absence before class.
4. Students can drop a course before it starts without penalty. Those wishing to drop a course after the first class must notify the course instructor.
5. Since demand for our courses exceeds supply, we request that students take any given course only once a year, with the exception of the proposal writing courses which may be taken in both the spring and the fall.
